Building Family Ties in the Midst of COVID-19
As families navigate a “new normal” in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, many are feeling isolated while others are feeling overwhelmed and taxed. Our families are facing new challenges, but we can benefit from identifying ways to stay connected with one another in the midst of a global crisis. Join Dr. Goudelock for this presentation and Q&A session on managing COVID-19 as a family unit by slowing down to build connections.

An Evening with Francine Rivers (Novelist & Screenwriter)
Francine Rivers joins us to discuss her novel (and now screenplay) Redeeming Love!  The book, which will be released as a film in theaters next year, is a great way to start conversations with kids about love, dating, and self-esteem.  Since 2017, Deacon John has used the text to inspire young women to know their worth, to encourage young men to understand the ramifications of how they treat women, and to inform students about the dangers of human trafficking in South Texas.  Mrs. Rivers takes questions from parents and students.

The prologue of Redeeming Love is available to read here.
Francine Rivers
Francine is a New York Times best-selling author, a member of Romance Writers of America's coveted Hall of Fame, and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW).  She wrote Redeeming Love as a statement of her Christian faith, and she recently completed the screenplay for its film adaptation, available in theaters next year.  Her numerous best-selling novels have been translated into over 30 languages. Francine and her husband live in Northern California and enjoy time spent with their grown children and grandchildren.

Praying Together, Staying Together
In this season where normal rhythms and structure are disrupted, we have an opportunity to find structure and order in the ancient rhythms of prayer. The Rev Dr. Rob Goodman teaches simple spiritual practices you can implement at home, including praying and reading scripture together as a family. Father Rob discusses the power of reflection, humankind's craving for order, and the nature of community. We also explore how to engage the entire family in Scripture through the practice of Lectio Divina.
