Our Leadership
VICAR | The Rev'd John Goodman II
|
Father John is our lead church planter. In late-2017, he began to discern God's call to gather a diverse group of people into an intentional community. That led to Christ Church RGV, a multigenerational, multicultural community centered on meeting Christ in His word, sacrament, and service to one another and the wider community.
John is an ordained Anglican priest in the Anglican Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast. He is originally from Western Pennsylvania and served as a Navy nuclear operator in Charleston and Pearl Harbor. In 2016, he moved to the valley and taught middle and high school English in La Joya ISD for four years. He has ministered in Pennsylvania, Hong Kong, Cuba, and both sides of the border. His degrees are in political science and theology, and he is completing a law degree at UT-Austin. But the most obscure thing about John is that he is an avid curler.

VESTRY
The VESTRY is the board of trustees for the church's nonprofit corporation. By tradition, the Vicar serves as president of the corporation. With him, the individuals named below have been elected to have authority over all congregational missions not separately incorporated and to oversee the temporal and business affairs of the Christ Church RGV, including, but not limited to:
- Approving an annual budget;
- Authorizing the distribution of charitable funds;
- Securing an adequate location for regular worship;
- Supporting the VICAR in all aspects of his ministry; and
- Complying with the constitutions and canons of the Anglican Church in North America and our diocese.
